MILTON HIGH SCHOOL BAND REGISTRATION

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

Below are some helpful tips on what you will need to know prior to band registration on Monday, April 30 in the MHS Band Room. Please drop in anytime between 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. The information is divided as follows: All Band/Colorguard Members, Freshmen and Rookies and Returning Band/Colorguard Members to better assist you.  During registration, we will provide a check list to ensure you have completed all steps in the registration process.

ALL BAND/COLORGUARD MEMBERS
Before registration…

  • Complete the “Online Student Information Sheet” PRIOR to your arrival to expedite the process. Click  HERE for the form.
  • Print and complete the appropriate packet for your child (marching, colorguard or non-marching band) and bring with you to registration. Additional information provided below related to uniforms, etc.

During registration …

  • Provide the completed and signed pledge form, attendance form, medical form and meal policy form to the appropriate individuals during registration.
  • Bring a copy of your insurance card. A copy must be on file. 
  • Bring your checkbook or credit card to pay your band fees. Note: Credit cards will be charged an additional 2.75% processing fee.”
  • Sign up for volunteer activities that suit your interests in order to satisfy your 40 hours required by each family.  Details and dates will be communicated at a later time so that you can check your schedule and sign up for what works for you)

FRESHMEN AND ROOKIES 
Marching Band:   Your child will need to order the following items:
  • Show shirt – a short-sleeved cotton t-shirt that the students wear to certain band events (e.g., Old Soldier’s Day Parade).  The design of the shirt changes each year to coincide with the theme of the show.  Parents are welcome to order a show shirt too at the same cost as students if ordered at registration. Purchase of show shirts after registration is based on availability and price will increase.
  • Under-uniform – athletic shorts (navy) and athletic shirt (white) with the Milton Band logo that the students wear under their marching band uniforms.  Sample sizes will be available on the day of registration.
  • Marching shoes – special shoes that the students wear with their marching uniform.  Students will be fitted for these shoes during pre-camp in the summer. 

Colorguard:   Your child will need to order the following items: 

  • Show shirt – a short-sleeved cotton t-shirt that the students wear to certain band events (e.g., Old Soldier’s Day Parade).  The design of the shirt changes each year to coincide with the theme of the show.  Parents are welcome to order one too, if desired, at the current cost.
  • Warm Ups – to wear following the performances in cooler weather
  • Duffle Bag – to keep your items together
  • Tank Tops – to wear during certain band events
  • Shoes – special shoes that the colorguard wears to match their costumes.
  • Gloves – for performances

Concert Band:  See below: 

  • Boys:  You will need to order a tuxedo shirt and studs on the day of registration.  Students will be fitted for their shirts and tuxedos during the summer.
  • Girls:  Girls will be fitted for a dress during the summer.  

RETURNING BAND/COLORGUARD MEMBERS (10th  – 12th GRADE)

IMPORTANT : Check prior to coming if your child needs new shoes, under uniform items or a tux shirt. We order these items one time, in bulk, to save families money. Don’t miss your opportunity to purchase replacement items!

Marching Band:   Your child will need to order a show shirt. If they need replacement under-uniform pieces and shoes, you can order them.  
  • Show shirt – a short-sleeved cotton t-shirt that the students wear to certain band events (e.g., Old Soldier’s Day Parade).  The design of the shirt changes each year to coincide with the theme of the show. Parents are welcome to order a show shirt too at the same cost as students if ordered at registration. Purchase of show shirts after registration is based on availability and price will increase.
  • Under-uniform – does your child still have his/her under-uniform from last year?  Do the shorts and shirt still fit?  If not, please re-order. Sample sizes will be available the day of registration.
  • Marching shoes – do your child’s marching shows still fit from last year?  If no, please re-order.  Students will be fitted for these shoes during pre-camp in the summer. 

Colorguard:   Your child will need to order a show shirt. If they need replacement items, you can order them.  
  • Warm Ups – does your child still have her/his warm ups?  Do they still fit?  If not, please re- order. 
  • Duffle Bag – does your child still have her/his duffle bag or do you need to re-order?
  • Tank Tops – does the tank top fit from last year?  If not, please re-order.
  • Shoes – do your child’s shoes still fit?  If not, re-order.
  • Gloves – are your child’s gloves still in good shape? If not, re-order.

Concert Band:  See below: 

  • Boys:  Does your son’s tuxedo shirt still fit?  Can you find the studs?  If not, please re-order.
  • Girls:  Girls will be fitted for a dress during the summer.
